As humans, we are subject to viral and bacterial infection everyday of our lives. The most dangerous diseases in this world include smallpox, malaria, and the Black Plague. Small pox and the Black Plague have already been almost completely "wiped out." That leaves malaria. Malaria is currently the largest infectious disease in the world at this point. We want to help convince others (large foundations/governments) to fund companies that are currently trying to find a vaccine for malaria. We want to focus our attention on pregnant women and children that are in danger, or already have, malaria in Nigeria.

1. What is the specific topic your group decided to focus on?
Our group’s specific topic is finding a cure for malaria, and also we are going to fund-raise for supplies to prevent malaria, like mosquito nets, mosquito repellents, etc. We are mainly focusing on pregnant women and children that are in danger or currently are infected by malaria.
2. Which organization did you choose to focus on and why?
We decided to focus on the organization Malaria No More. We chose this over Gates Foundation because it is built specifically on malaria, unlike Gate Foundation which concentrates on many other diseases and global issues.Because Malaria No More only concentrates on malaria, it probably has the best experience with action plans and will know what will work and won't work. Malaria No More is a very well known organization that hosts and co-hosts major fundraisers with big companies. They co-hosted an even with the White House Summit on Malaria and prompted the United States to participate in World Malaria Day. They also raised tens of millions of dollars with two "Idol Gives Back" charity specials on American Idol. Not only are they well known with big companies, they are well known with celebrities. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith traveled with Malaria No More to Tanzania. This is a very big organization and it will be the one that could help us the most.

Malaria No More is doing a lot to change the lives of so many that are currently infected or in danger of getting malaria. They host huge fundraisers, raising millions of dollars. They are selling mosquito nets, mosquito repellents, etc. to combat malaria. They are shipping medicine into Africa to be used to combat malaria. They are cooperating with celebrities, big corporations, and the public to help fund their cause.
4. What are some of the things you like about their program?
Some things we like about Malaria No More's program is how involved they are with celebrities, big companies, and the public. This is a really good way to raise money for malaria. As we said in question 2, Malaria No More is very involved with people. We think this is what made them so successful. We also like how involved they are with the people they are buying the mosquito nets and repellents for. They have a strong bond with the people they are helping and sending celebrities as well as community workers to lighten the moods. The main thing we like about Malaria No More is the involvement between the people
5. How do you plan to become involved with this organization or model your action plan after it?
Our group wants to use their ideas as a model on our own model plan. Malaria No More and our group have both the same ideals, to stop malaria. We will try to get funds by selling mosquito nets. We want to educate people about how horrible malaria is. We would like to try to advertise their and our cause. We will spread the word about World Malaria Day, which is on April 25 each year.
